It’s almost that time again….in just a matter of weeks that final bell of this school term will trill, marking the start of that joyous time….the six week holidays! That is of course if you haven’t already ditched your pencil case and burnt your uniform after those hideous exams!
The world is suddenly yours, teacher free days of fun, laughter and not a scrap of homework to darken the horizon. So…..what to do?
It’s always tempting to veg in front of Game of Thrones box sets, but should you wish to peel yourself out of that bum print on the sofa at some point before the end of August, why not put your skills to making a difference this summer?
Whether you enjoy music, fashion, art, sport, social media or anything else in between, the Compton Champions Programme offers you the chance to do what you love AND give a little back towards your local community.
Determined to get fit this year or perhaps you would like to raise funds and enjoy your favourite sport? Then the Compton Champions Active Award is for you. All you have to do is organise or take part in an active fundraising event. This might be a sponsored run or walk, football match or even a Compton skydive!
Perhaps you fancy a career in the music industry? Then gain valuable experience by taking on our Compton Champions of Music Award. Music is an important part of our everyday lives offering benefits ranging from easing pain, to helping people sleep better, reducing stress, easing depression and even elevating cognitive performance! It is also a brilliant tool to get lots of people together in one place, enjoying a great night out and raising money for a good cause. To receive the award all you have to do is put on a live music event. This could take place at any venue at any time of year. You could simply showcase a solo artist, or you could go big and run your own mini music festival – it’s entirely up to you!
Like to GIF, Post,Tweet, Insta, Snap or Blog? Then why not take on our Compton Champions Of Media and Communication Award. PR and Communication are vital tools to enable Compton Hospice to continue to run as it does. This award doesn’t necessarily require participants to fundraise for us, but instead they must help to raise the profile of the hospice. If you are social media savvy and know all about Blogging, Vlogging, Memes, Gifs and digital media, or you know a thing or two about putting together a promotional video, then we want to hear from you!
Alternatively if you love designing, drawing, painting, dancing or creating, the Compton Champions of Fashion and The Arts Award should be right up your street! Simply organise a fundraising event incorporating the arts. You might hold a fashion or art show, hold a dance recital, or, alternatively, you could make and sell your own accessories in aid of Compton Hospice.
You could even take on our Charity Shop Challenge. Only buy your clothes from our charity shops for a stated period of time and then share your Look Book on our Instagram and Twitter pages to encourage others to spend their pennies to help our patients.
If none of the above takes your fancy this summer then why not do your own thing and work towards our original Compton Champions Award instead? You could do anything from holding a bake sale to dyeing your hair pink!
